The weather has been really strange at the moment, Sydney had a massive downpour while this photo was being taken but it was still 34c/93F (that's why the light is very odd).
This morning when I woke up there was not a cloud in the sky but the temperature was 14c/57F!
The dress is a really simple style (gathered waist, dolman sleeves and keyhole neckline) but the fabric is amazing. Can you pick what the design is?
I wore this outfit to a Balboa Workshop that was put on by the amazing Peter Flahiff while he's here visiting Australia, and it was divine to dance in (thanks Laurence!).

In other news, the Playsuit I posted about recently is a major disappointment.
While the pants-part did fit (after taking them in copious amounts) the top was un-flattering no matter how many variations I've tried. It's on the reject heap for the moment.
After that disappointment I decided to throw caution to the wind and jump in with this easy* number.
Butterick B6019, Patterns by Gertie (mock-Shaheen).
*by 'easy' - I mean not very.
This is probably one of the most complex things I have ever sewn, but hey, go hard or go home.
The bust cups have a thin batting faux-bra inside. There's lots of shirring. You have to match a lot of placement lines across the bodice- what was I thinking?
I'm actually pretty excited about this, and hopefully I'll get to sew enough of it this weekend to take some decent in-progess photos to show you.
Did I mention that I only made one muslin, of the bodice?
