Reclaim the Right Vigil this Australia Day

4 pm, Harmony Park next to the Surry Hills Police Station.

SSO reported that there have been 26 instances of homophobic violence in the past 5 weeks in the Surry Hills police area. The director of ACON has been described as a 'whinger' by the same police station. Enough is enough, and its not ok.

"The vigil is about the community coming together, for our many voices to be heard as one. It’s about opposing homophobic violence, inaction and apathy by police, our politicians and even ourselves. It’s about showing unwavering support for the victims of that violence and inaction, it’s about demanding justice, equality and liberty – we want to be able to walk the streets and be safe, we want to all be who we are. It’s about building an awareness – it’s time for positive change.
Speakers will include Clover Moore MP, Councillor Shayne Mallard and ACON’s Adrian Loveny. The MCs will be Steph Sands and Maxi Shield."
